The Native American Indians had many homes, especially the Iroquois. They had well over seven or eight different types. Also they had many varieties of materials, which is why one house was good for weather and one was light and easy to pack up and move. Iroquois had a very civilized life. All of the Native American had to help when building their homes. They all had to stay together to protect each other from either the other Native Americans or from the Europeans.
In the next few paragraphs I, Anthony Rizzo, will be presenting pictures and other educational objects, also I have very detailed pictures from the Internet.  I will be showing and explaining what types of homes Native Americans had.  Even though Indians were never popular they were still very smart. Some people think that the Native Americans were never advanced like us, but some of their houses were very hard to make.

One of these homes are called a Longhouse. A Longhouse is an average size of 25 ft by 150 ft. This house consists of very long saplings.  A sapling is a baby tree that has no or some leaves or branches and it is very bendable. There were two or maybe three holes in the roof so the fire smoke go out the top and wouldn't harm the occupants.  The twigs and the saplings were connected by vines and roots. The sides were grass and hay that was cut on a slit. In a longhouse there was probably eight or nine families (150 people per house)

Another type of house is called an  igloo.  It is used for the Native Americans that live in the north where it is very cold, sometimes even below 0 degrees. An igloo is made out of either ice or snow. The way they build these houses is outstanding. They make a  certain part of the pile an enterance.  After they dig the humungus pile of snow or ice, they waited till it was a bit harder then, they use a special tool to do the inside. After they are done with this brand new house they move in it once it is totally solid that is. I would say this igloo takes about two - three days.

Don't forget that the longhouse and the igloo are permanent homes unlike the next house I'm about to talk  about. This house is called a teepee. The teepee is made out of  buffalo skin  and thick hard sticks that are long about 15ft or 16ft. These house are light and easy to pack up and move. The reason why they built nice and light easy to pack up is because the Native Americans followed the herds of buffalo. Also they had to move if the American Settlers forced them off their home land. Teepee's weigh about 40lbs-50lbs.
